The minimum compensation for this position is $63,000.
This position is required to be in person on the University of Minnesota Morris campus in Morris, Minnesota.
For newer graduates, clinical supervision will be offered.
Morris Student Counseling supports students’ mental health, self-awareness, skill building, and well being for success in college and in life. Student Counseling staff are key collaborators in creating a safe, caring, respectful and inclusive campus that cultivates student learning, health, well being, persistence, and success. The Counselor provides individual and group counseling, crisis response, consultation on mental health issues, and coordination of projects and programs that foster student health and well being. This is 100% time, 12 month annually renewable professional and administrative appointment (Mental Health Care Provider 1 9724M1). The position reports to the Senior Counselor.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide culturally sensitive mental health care and resources for a diverse student population and help to operationalize Student Counseling developmental, clinical and preventative missions.
2. Provide individual and group counseling to students seeking assistance and skill building for greater emotional and mental health.
3. Assess and implement appropriate, evidenced based interventions based on the mental health needs of assigned students. Provide needed referrals and case management support.
4. Provide crisis intervention and counseling to students during and after office hours.
5. Provide consultation to students, faculty, and staff on a wide range of mental health issues.
6. Guide and support educational and preventative programs that advance student learning, growth, development, and success and create a campus environment that fosters student well being.
7. Maintain an understanding of UMM critical incident/crisis response protocols. Provide crisis response and support to students, faculty, staff and others during and after incidents.
8. Implement effective practices, protocols, and record keeping in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and other federal, state and university mandates, policies, and procedures.
9. Participate in professional organizations, conferences and workshops; stay abreast of current clinical practice, strategies and developments, emerging issues, and approaches to fostering college student health and well being.
10. Assist with Student Counseling data tracking, program assessment, evaluation and improvement.
11. Collaborate with the Student Affairs, student counseling staff, other individuals, offices, committees and programs both within and outside the university to implement a Student Counseling program that provides intentional student education and development; partners with campus programs for seamless student services and experiences; builds community and fosters a healthy campus environment; supports the recruitment, success, persistence, and graduation of a talented student body; advances the mission and vision of the college, and moves Student Counseling to a position of leadership among US public liberal arts colleges.
