CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA)

SITE OF SERVICE:

· Naval Branch Health Clinic NBHC Albany, GA

· Depending on the clinical workload, the health care workers (HCWs) may be required to provide services in other clinics located within Naval Hospital (NH) Jacksonville and Branch Health Clinics (BHC).

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

· Degree : Certificate.

· Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING :

o Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)

o Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists

o Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC)

o Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)

o Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)

o Formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.

· Certification: Current certification as a medical assistant by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING :

o American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

o American Medical Technologists (AMT)

o American Registry of Medical Assistant (ARMA)

o National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

·  Experience: Possess a minimum of one year full-time experience in the last three years as a CMA in an outpatient family practice or primary care setting.

· U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.

· English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.

· HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required.

CORE DUTIES:

• Prepare exam rooms prior to patient's arrival.
• Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
• Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight and blood pressure.
• Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
• Maintain exam room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of exam rooms, to include dusting, cleaning wash basins, etc.
• Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
• Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.

HOURS:

Services shall normally be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 0730 and 1630.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
