Job Description

Lifelines Counseling Services is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Victim Advocate - Case Manager to join our team. As a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering survivors of trauma, we are committed to providing comprehensive and individualized services to those in need. In this role, you will be responsible for providing advocacy, case management, and support services to survivors of various crimes, including homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking. You will work closely with survivors, assisting them in navigating the legal and social service systems, assisting with basic needs, including housing, transportation, food, etc., providing emotional support, and connecting them with necessary resources and referrals for their ongoing healing and recovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to survivors of trauma, including safety planning, crisis intervention, and individualized service plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine survivors' immediate needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Advocate for survivors' rights and needs within the legal and social service systems.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including law enforcement, medical professionals, and social service agencies, to coordinate services and ensure a holistic and trauma-informed approach.
  • Assist survivors in accessing necessary resources and support services, including housing, legal aid, counseling, and medical care.
  • Provide emotional support and empowerment counseling to survivors, promoting their healing and personal growth.
  • Facilitate support groups and educational workshops for survivors and their families.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and organizations to enhance services and improve access for survivors.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of survivor interactions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in victim advocacy and trauma-informed care.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the field of victim services.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to evaluate and enhance services based on survivor feedback and program outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • Prior experience in victim advocacy, case management, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and best practices.
  • Understanding of legal and social service systems and resources available for survivors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with survivors and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to provide emotional support and advocacy for survivors in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
  • Proficiency in using electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple cases and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
