Job Purposes::

This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining a case management system designed to coordinate, facilitate, and monitor programs and services available to students in distress. Collaborating with the other Case Manager, this position is responsible for advocacy and case management services including but not limited to non-clinical crisis intervention, emergency response and after-hours on-call duties. This position is also responsible for prevention programming and educational outreach. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of the Student Advocacy and Wellness Center and also collaborates closely with the Student Concern Committee.

Required Qualifications::

  • Master's degree in student affairs, social work, counseling, or related field.
  • 3 year of relevant work experience, may include graduate practicum/internship experience.

Essential Functions and percent of time::

Case Management and Advocacy (65%)

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and monitor provision of programs and services to students in distress or students of concern referred from various university departments and community organizations (i.e. Dean of Students, Counseling Services, Student Health Services, Student Concern Committee, University Police, etc.) and provide case management and advocacy for students who are in distress.
  • Provide immediate non-clinical crisis support, information, safety planning, and referral to students experiencing a wide range of academic and health related issues including but not limited to:
    • Recent illness, injury or death
    • Mental health crisis
    • Urgent financial hardship
    • Urgent transportation
    • Urgent food pantry access
    • Academic course petition
  • Serve as a contact for faculty and staff to express concerns regarding students who are exhibiting symptoms associated with distress.
  • Provide on-call crisis response to student crisis associated with a myriad of issues including, but not limited to mental health, physical health, and family or close individual death.
  • Maintain records of student interactions and referrals to campus and community resources.
  • Create and implement assessment processes pertaining to services and programs.
  • Create a report of each semester's activities and programs offered, including statistical analysis of students served.

Educational Programming & Outreach (30%)

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating health and wellness programming on a wide range of topics.
  • Organize campus and campus-community events to bring awareness, improve access to information and resources on a range of health and wellness issues.
  • Develop appropriate resource guides and information packets for students on a range of health and wellness issues.
  • Serve as an information resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding the services of the office.
  • Support completion of the alcohol and other drug biennial review.
  • Participate on Student Concern Committee.
  • Serve on various university committees.

Working Conditions::

This position has on-call responsibilities on rotation with the rest of the staff—24/7 on-call one week out of every three weeks.
