Job Description
General Summary

* Under general supervision, demonstrates and models a full-range of advanced speech language pathology services through direct patient evaluations and treatment.

Qualifications

* A Master's degree in Speech Pathology/Audiology or a related field, is required. Current licensure as a Speech Pathologist and/or Audiologist with the State of Maryland is required.
* Current CPR certification is preferred.
* Minimum two years full-time experience as a licensed Speech Pathologist/Audiologist is required.
* Advanced knowledge of speech/hearing mechanisms, assessment and therapeutic materials, neuroanatomy, physiology, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, speech and language disorders, guiding and diagnosing video swallow studies, diagnostic and therapy materials needed for evaluation
* Models behaviors that support professional practice activities of peers. Models a professional image and effective customer service behavior.
* Ability to adhere to Medical Center safe patient handling policies and practices.
* Ability to work regularly with patients possessing potentially infectious disease using the appropriate "Standard Precautions," such as wearing gloves, mask and other protective clothing.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills are required in order to work with patients and other health care personnel effectively.

Working Conditions

* Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call and overtime may be required.
* There is potential for regular exposure to patients possessing infectious disease in the work environment, requiring observance of "Standard Precautions" by wearing protective clothing and following safe work practices.
