### Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated Life Insurance Underwriter to spearhead our automated underwriting and product governance efforts. In this role, you will support our automated instant-issue life insurance application platform with three key responsibilities:
- Field Underwriting Support: Provide guidance on underwriting-related queries from our customer support team and offer advice on agent training and informational materials.
- Post-Issue Audit Support: Evaluate underwriting performance using our engine and third-party data sources, supporting our carrier clients with detailed audits.
- Underwriting Innovation: Enhance our underwriting model through rule adjustments, assessment of new data sources, and analysis of their real-world performance. Future responsibilities may include desk underwriting of digital applications referred for additional review, including underwriting file and APS reviews.
You will collaborate closely with carrier clients, including Chief Underwriters, and work with our agent field force. Internally, you'll partner with our helpdesk team, data and analytics, and product departments. Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills are essential.
Work Arrangement: Remote (Must be based in the United States)
### Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years as a Life Insurance Underwriter
- Preferred: Familiarity with automated underwriting engines
- Knowledge: Experience with underwriting data sources such as Milliman Irex, LexisNexis Risk Score, MVR, LabPiQ, Sherlock, MIB, or similar
- Desirable: Background in product development and field underwriting support
- Innovation: Passion for underwriting innovation, including improving underwriting manuals, updating rules, and developing new standards
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of life insurance industry processes and products
- Mindset: Self-starter with a passion for creating exceptional products and a hands-on attitude
- Skills: Ability to think independently, solve problems with limited guidance, and exhibit both qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
- Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills
