Our school division, PRO Pediatric Services, supports students from Early Intervention age, up to grade 12 within school districts, charter schools, and intermediate units. PRO Pediatric Services is currently seeking a School-Based Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide services at a local intermediate unit near Wilkes-Barre, PA .

Job Description:

  • Assist the Occupational Therapist in conducting assessments to identify students' needs related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and other functional abilities.
  • Implement therapy interventions as outlined in students' IEPs, focusing on improving their ability to participate in school activities and routines.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate therapeutic activities into the classroom and other school settings.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, including maintaining accurate records of therapy sessions, progress notes, and communication logs.
  • Provide direct support and instruction to students individually or in small groups, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Adapt and modify classroom materials and environments to facilitate students' participation and independence.
  • Educate and train school staff and families on strategies to support students' functional skills in the school environment.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing input on students' progress and recommendations for continued therapy services.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to special education and therapy services.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all professional activities.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
  • Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Valid state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Must be able to complete clinical documentation to program standards
  • Previous experience as a school-based COTA is highly preferred
  • Current clearances (within 6 months)
