Mission Statement: The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Job Objectives: To staff a 24-hour hotline, and provide for the safety and well-being of the clients residing at the safe dwelling as needed, including weekends and overnight shifts. Provide information, support, and crisis intervention to sexually assaulted victims and/or families while the victim is receiving treatment in an area emergency room. Advocates must commit to a minimum of two shifts per week.
Responsibilities:
· Provide emergency assistance to women and children residing in the safe dwelling
· Answer the 24-hour hotline, and provide information and referrals.
· Provide support to residents of the safe dwelling.
· Assist residents with victim’s compensation claims.
· Complete 40-hour rape crisis training.
· Respond to area emergency rooms to provide support, crisis intervention, and advocacy for sexual assault victims.
· Provide advocacy with other service providers and accompaniment when necessary.
· Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
Confidentiality Agreement: All staff will sign an agreement that the location of the safe dwelling, client information, and staff information are strictly confidential. Must have an NYS driver’s license and a vehicle.
Qualifications:
· Criminal background check
· Fingerprinting
· OCFS Central Registry check
· NYS Justice Center SEL required
· Must be at least eighteen years old. Some college in a related field is preferred.
Physical Qualifications:
· Must be able to climb stairs
· Must be able to lift twenty pounds or more.
Accountability: Reports directly to the Safe House Manager
