Position Description:The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking applications for a clinical faculty physician. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor on the clinical (non-tenure) track. This position is suited for individuals who have completed four years of residency training in radiation oncology and are board certified by the American Board of Radiology-Radiation Oncology.
The candidate will have a focus on the treatment of pediatric, breast, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal malignancies. Candidates with prior experience in an academic leadership role will be given preference. Candidates should have an interest in being part of the radiation oncology residency program leadership.
The Department of Radiation Oncology fosters a culture of research, teaching, and clinical excellence. Additionally, the Department hosts a Ph.D. degree-granting program in Free Radical and Radiation Biology, and it engages in a variety of translational research studies spanning from bench to bedside. The Department has 10 radiation oncologists and 12 medical physicists.
The Department is situated within The Center of Excellence in Image Guided Therapy, a modern and advanced facility spanning 40,000 square feet. It sits adjacent to the 507,000 square feet UI Stead Family Children's Hospital which was dedicated in November 2016. The Department is equipped with cutting-edge technologies including three standard linear accelerators, an Elekta Unity 1.5-Tesla MRI linac, a Gamma Knife Icon stereotactic radiosurgery system, a comprehensive brachytherapy program, a PET/CT scanner, and a 3-Tesla MRI scanner. The Department has four research nurses, two clinical trials research specialists, a grants administrator, and a creative media specialist to support research, grant application preparation and administration, and manuscript preparation and submission. Research facilities for human subjects are tremendous including a 7-Tesla MRI scanner, a 3-Tesla MRI scanner, and a PET/CT scanner. Research facilities for small animals include an XStrahl Small Animal Radiation Research Platform (SARRP), XStrahl CIX3 cabinet irradiator, 7T MRI, microPET, microCT, and optical imaging systems.

Education Requirement:
Applicants must have an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree and at least four years of residency training in Radiation Oncology.
Required Qualifications:
Must be eligible for an Iowa Medical license.
Certifications:Must be board certified by the American Board of Radiology-Radiation Oncology.
Desirable Qualifications:Candidates with prior experience in an academic leadership role will be given preference.
Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
