Sacred Heart Church Parish Receptionist
Reports to: Office Manager
Term: Nonexempt, Full-Time, Hourly, 12 months
Salary: $18.00 to $20.00, includes benefits
General Statement of Responsibilities
The Parish Receptionist provides skilled secretarial and related office services to the pastor, business manager and parish staff. This person provides a welcoming experience to parishioners and visitors to the church and assists the staff in planning and coordinating various parish activities. The Parish Receptionist is expected to use sound judgment in carrying out routine. duties and responsibilities of the parish office.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
• Welcome and assist parishioners and visitors, on the phone and in person, including screening and transferring calls and email correspondence, as appropriate.
• Interact with the community homeless when needed.
• Assist with scheduling activities
• Process incoming mail and postal metering of outgoing mail.
• Schedule Mass Intentions and to post them.
• Assist the Parish staff, as needed, with tasks associated with, but not limited to, facility usage, building security, tracking of supplies, and other as needed.
• Provide general clerical assistance and perform assigned tasks, as needed by all Parish staff.
• Post weekly parishioner offertory, provide end-of-year statements.
• Part of New Parishioner Welcome Events, meeting with potential new parishioners. Enter new parishioners into database.
• Help monitor the security cameras and be the TPD Liaison
Schedule
The scheduled hours are Monday and Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. Additional hours may be necessary and requested on evenings and weekends for special projects and events.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Professional telephone skills and positive customer service experience. Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and be attentive to details.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Physical Demands & Job Conditions
The incumbent, while performing the job duties, may sit and stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Candidate must successfully pass a Level II FBI Background Screening and complete Safe Environment Training before employment.
