Job Description

This is an in-office role in Rochester, and no relocation assistance is provided. As a Family/Matrimonial Law Clerk you must be detailed oriented and motivated to learn and be a team player. A law clerk will assist attorneys in various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and adoption. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and providing high-quality support to our clients. Responsibilities: • Legal Research: Conduct legal research on matrimonial/family law issues, statutes, and case law.  • Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and address inquiries.  • Case Management: Assist in managing case files, including organizing documents and maintaining deadlines.  • Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with the court, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures.  • Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings, including creating trial binders and summarizing evidence.  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and case details.  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings and managing calendars.  • Billable hourly Requirement:  Meet minimum billed and collected hours as stated in the offer letter.  Qualifications: • Must be enrolled in an accredited law school, preferably having completed at least three years (3L) of coursework Strong academic record, particularly in relevant areas of law, such as family law, contracts, or civil procedure.  • Prior internships or clerkships in legal settings, even if not directly related to the desired area of law.  • Experience in conducting legal research and drafting legal documents through coursework or prior positions.  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.  • Familiarity with family law software and case management systems is an advantage.  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to assess legal issues and cases.  • Ability to successfully pass a background check. • A valid driver's license in good standing.
