Job Title: HR Assistant

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid: Tuesday-Thursday in-office)

Industry: Nonprofit / Association

Pay: $55,000 - $60,000

Job Description:

We are seeking an HR Assistant to provide crucial administrative support to a small but efficient HR team. This is a strictly administrative role supporting HR functions but does not include HR strategy or career growth into HR. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling confidential information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Manage HR-related invoices, process expense reports, and track payments.
  • HRIS & Reporting: Pull, format, and maintain HR data reports from internal systems.
  • Employee Communications: Prepare internal announcements, newsletters, and quick slide decks for HR updates.
  • Office & Event Support: Assist with in-office meetings, test A/V equipment in conference rooms, and provide backup reception support.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain personnel files, assist with background checks, and process employment verifications.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-3 years of administrative experience, preferably with exposure to HR functions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS (Paycor preferred) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and a proactive problem-solver.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
