Job Description

Job Overview: The Longfellow Hotel, a 48-room luxury boutique hotel, café, and spa, is seeking a team of driven and empathetic Guest Service Agents. Opening May 17, 2024, The Longfellow Hotel is already gaining recognition as one of the most highly anticipated openings in the US. Our Guest Service Agents will be the face and voice of our full service hotel. The first person our guest will speak to when booking a reservation, and the last they will see before their departure, the GSA is the most recognized role in all hotels. Additionally, this position will help foster the culture of The Longfellow Hotel throughout the Portland business community and will require a sense of playfulness to help rethink luxury accommodations. This position is well suited for individuals that have experience in front desk daily operation, and want to continue their journey in the rooms department of a luxury hotel. Role and Responsibilities:
  • Perform front desk responsibilities including but not limited to:* Check In and Check outs
  • Proper credit card handling
  • assigning room numbers
  • pre-arrival questions
  • Manage online and phone reservations.
  • Able to help exceed our guests expectations.
  • Provide information about our hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities
  • Delivers exceptional service, which includes:* Anticipating guest needs and identifying key opportunities for our team to exceed the expectations of both new and repeat visitors.
  • Maintaining an awareness of local happenings that may be of interest to guests, including restaurant menus and hours, entertainment events, recreation and sporting events- as well as keeping front desk staff up to date on this information..
  • Liaise with our housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully-furnished to accommodate guests’ needs
  • Upsell additional facilities and services, when appropriate
  • Ensures guest satisfaction and problem-solve when things go wrong, including conflict resolution and sound judgement.
What you bring to the table:
  • Front desk experience preferred with knowledge of day to day operations
  • Luxury hotel experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skill
  • Able to work weekends, nights, and some holidays
  • A genuine sense of empathy and care towards others
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Relevant Portland, ME area experience preferred

From time to time, you will be expected to travel to venues and events outside of the Portland area, as the business demands. The Longfellow Hotel is managed by Uncommon Hospitality, a family run hospitality company based in Portland, ME. Longfellow Hotel will become the 4th managed property in the Uncommon portfolio which also includes The Francis Hotel (Portland), The Colonial Inn and The Admiral’s Inn (both in Ogunquit). Job Type: Full-time Hourly rate: $19.00 - $21.00
