Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundskeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in grounds maintenance, with a particular focus on irrigation systems, bed preparation, composting, mulch installation, and plant installation. This role is crucial in maintaining the beauty and health of our outdoor spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Irrigation Management:

  • Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage.
  • Monitor irrigation schedules and adjust as needed based on weather conditions and plant needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to irrigation systems.

• Bed Preparation and Cleaning:

  • Prepare garden beds for planting, ensuring soil is properly conditioned and ready for plant installation.
  • Regularly clean and maintain garden beds, removing debris, weeds, and dead plants.

• Composting:

  • Manage composting processes, ensuring that organic waste is properly decomposed and reused to enrich the soil.
  • Apply compost to garden beds to improve soil fertility and plant health.

• Mulch Installation:

  • Install mulch in garden beds and landscaped areas to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and enhance the appearance of the landscape.
  • Monitor mulch levels and replenish as necessary.

• Plant Installation:

  • Install a variety of plants, including trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals, according to design plans and specifications.
  • Ensure proper spacing, depth, and placement of plants for optimal growth and aesthetic appeal.

• General Grounds Maintenance:

  • Perform routine groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, and leaf removal.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean and organized.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in groundskeeping or a related field, with a focus on irrigation systems, bed preparation, composting, mulch installation, and plant installation.
• Strong knowledge of horticulture, landscape maintenance, and plant care.
• Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and irrigation controls.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in irrigation systems or horticulture.
• Experience working in a commercial or large residential setting.
