IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Working Condition: Hybrid > This position is mostly remote during the interims between sessions and legislative days, though occasional meetings in the Salem or Portland office are required.
This position is permanent, full time, and represented by SEIU.
Per the SEIU CBA for OHCS represented positions, applicants who are current OHCS employees will be considered and interviewed before external applicants.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Legislative & Government Relations Coordinator works within the Government Relations Section and provides support across OHCS programs, staff and with executive leadership, with a particular focus on affordable housing, energy services, and other portfolios. This role supports the development and implementation of state and federal legislative strategies that advance the mission, vision and priorities of the agency. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Government Relations, this highly independent position coordinates the agency legislative agenda and priorities with the Oregon State Legislature, the Office of the Governor, Oregon’s federal delegation, and industry advocates to ensure the efficient and effective advancement of agency programs. The position's primary responsibilities include monitoring legislative committees, legislation development, cross-department coordination, presentation to legislative committees, preparing agency leadership for legislative presentation and policy analysis related to potential legislation impacting OHCS. The Legislative and Government Relations Coordinator also monitors the impacts of federal legislation and federal rules on OHCS programs, providing guidance to the Assistant Director of Government Relations on how to communicate the impact of federal actions with the delegation and federal advocacy partners. The position helps ensure legislative intent is met in implementations and that legislators and stakeholders can engage as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS DIVISION: GOVERNMENT RELATIONS SECTION
The Government Relations section of the Public Affairs Division engages directly with members of the Oregon State Legislature, the Office of the Governor and Oregon’s federal delegation on matters pertaining to OHCS programs and initiatives, including legislative initiatives and rulemaking. They respond to requests for information, direct the legislative work of the agency, and help coordinate implementation of legislation. The position works closely with industry advocates to develop, coordinate and/or inform legislation that has impacts to OHCS programs.
