A premier national environmental law firm recognized for handling critical environmental, natural resource, and sustainability matters is seeking an accomplished attorney for their esteemed practice. We are searching an experienced Environmental Transactions Associate with a strong academic background to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of relevant transactional experience in environmental law, with a focus on due diligence, indemnities, and complex environmental agreements. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile environmental transactions while collaborating with a team of highly skilled attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct environmental due diligence for a variety of transactional matters.
* Negotiate environmental indemnities and advise on complex environmental agreements such as carbon inset/offset projects, solar leases, vendor MSAs, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
* Provide counsel on CERCLA, RCRA, Federal Power Act, climate-related cross-border trade, and other relevant statutes.
* Draft and review agreements to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and risk management strategies.
* Manage multiple transactions, balancing client needs with tight deadlines, and provide guidance on legal challenges related to environmental issues.
Qualifications:
* J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
* Active member of the bar in at least one jurisdiction, with the ability to obtain licensure in the jurisdiction of physical practice within six months of hire.
* 4-8 years of experience in transactional practice areas, ideally with exposure to environmental law, gained at a reputable law firm.
* Strong experience in negotiating and drafting environmental agreements (e.g., PPAs, MSAs, and solar leases) and a deep understanding of environmental regulations.
* Ability to manage complex legal matters independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
* Excellent analytical, research, contract drafting, and client management skills.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to handle significant client responsibilities.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with exceptional time management skills.
