Under the direction of the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I (EREA I) of the Data Access and Strategy Office in the Analysis, Measurement, and Accountability Reporting Division, and working cooperatively with program units and managers throughout the California Department of Education, the Education Research and Evaluation Consultant (EREC) acts as the lead data steward for educator data collection, reporting, research, and evaluation in the Department. The EREC will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the Educator Excellence and Equity Division (EEED) and colleagues at the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to support improvements in data collections; alignment of state and federal programs, policies, and definitions; and ensure accuracy and accessibility of new and future public reporting of educator data.

Working Conditions

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Knowledge and experience of reviewing and responding to formal research data requests.

Knowledge and experience working with K-12 data on all students.

Excellent organizational and communication skills including the ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented, agile environment.
